Portable Waterbed™: Easy To Setup & Move – January 16, 2026

A Waterbedtime Story™ sponsored by InnoMax Corp.

As anyone who has ever owned a traditional waterbed can tell you, you can’t just pick it up and move it to the other side of the room. So if you are one of those people who likes to change your living space around occasionally, traditional waterbeds are not well suited for that proclivity. And heretofore while there has only ever been one way to move an old-fashioned waterbed from one side of a room to the other…which has been to drain it and then refill it on the other side….that was then and this is now. Enter the modular InnoMax Portable Waterbed™. Light enough for any average Jane or John Doe to setup & move anytime, Portable Waterbeds™ are designed for the here and now.

In addition to light weight mobility, InnoMax Portable Waterbeds™ eliminate side to side wave motion and are easily adjustable to individual support preferences.

Portability: convenience begins with packaging that ships via parcel service

The innovative InnoMax Portable Waterbed™ incorporates water filled tube cylinders in a lightweight encasement constructed of modular components that can ship in a UPS-able parcel. And as a filled cylinder tube typically weighs between 35 to 40 pounds (about 16 to 18 kg), all the components are manageable for 1 person to setup or move which is a key feature of the InnoMax design.

•           Cylinder Weight: Each tube is designed to optionally be filled at a faucet and hand carried, which is an advantage over traditional hardside waterbed mattresses that must be filled in place with a hose.

•           Total Bed Weight: A Queen mattress utilizing 8 cylinders weighs approximately 280-320 pounds which is significantly less than a traditional hardside waterbed.

Easy as 1-2-3: InnoMax Modular Design makes Portable Waterbed ™  setups and moves easy

Constructed of three simple components;

1 – the Top Comfort Layer Panels: consisting of an Anatomically Zoned insulation layer below fashionably quilted zip on Top Cover available with a variety of support options,

2 – the Fluid Suspension Support Core: consisting of water filled Cylinder Tubes, and

3 – the Base Container: consisting of innovative Sling Rail foam bolsters covered within a vinyl safety liner which sits inside the mattress bottom & side enclosure.

Customizable Firmness: allows individual adjustability levels for each side of the bed

•           Customizable Firmness: The individual cylinder tubes allow users to customize the feel of the bed by adjusting the water fill levels which can create different firmness levels for each side of the mattress if so desired. The number of tubes used for standard bed sizes is; 5 for Twin, 8 for Queen and 10 for King.

•           You may optionally fill waterbed tubes in a bathtub or sink. This is another advantage of the Portable Waterbed tube system, as the individual tubes are designed to be portable and filled in a convenient or remote location.

•           Portability: The tubes are light, making it easy to carry them to and from the nearest bathroom or kitchen for filling or installing.

Faucet Adapters: may optionally be used with a standard garden hose to fill and drain your Portable Waterbed™

• Faucet Adapters: You can use a standard garden hose with a waterbed fill and drain kit, which includes adapters to connect the hose to most kitchen or bathroom faucets.

• Add Conditioner: Remember to add the required Waterbed Conditioner tablet or solution to the water in each tube during the filling process to keep the water fresh and prevent algae growth.

• Burp the Air: After filling, slowly lay the cylinder down flat and remove the cap/plug briefly to allow excess air out before sealing it tightly.

InnoMax Portable Waterbed™ Options: offer a variety of tailoring from hi- and lo-profile enclosures, to reduced wave or waveless tubes as well as a temperature controlled option

In addition to a variety of Mattress construction options from lo- to hi-profile enclosures, some offering reversible inserts, Portable Waterbed™ tube cylinders offer two performance options. From the original water filled chambers designated as reduced wave, Tube Cylinders have evolved to include a waveless option which provides additional wave dampening performance.

In Closing

InnoMax Portable Waterbeds™ come standard with sufficient foam insulation to be comfortable without the use of a heater. However if you really want to have one, please use only Waterbed Heaters specifically designed and certified compliant with Underwriters Laboratories UL1445 Standard for use with modular tube waterbeds like InnoMax Softside Waterbed heaters. For your reference InnoMax Portable Waterbeds have been specifically designed to facilitate optionally installing the insulation pad below the heater(s) with tubes on top (refer Setup Instructions link above) to provide a temperature controlled sleep environment…but that’s another Waterbedtime Story.
